It’s been 25 years since Octavio got his hands on a mixer and a pair of decks and started dabbling in music, particularly hip-hop, house, and techno.
Coming from the Chilean underground independent hip-hop scene in the early 2000s as DJ Octavio for the group Cuarto Universo, he later shifted away from hip-hop to focus entirely on music production and live performance.
During this time, Nntblst (or Nontablist) project was born. Armed with just a few MIDI controllers and a drum machine, he slowly transitioned from regular DJ sets to live shows, inevitably leading to “live modular jams.”
His releases narrate the tale of this transition from heavy sample-based beats to fully analog modular music, being featured on labels such as MDR netlabel, Pueblo Nuevo, Recycled Plastics, Orion Network, and Shake Tapes.
